The Moving Adventure as Told by Amber
So for those who are wondering how our trip from Oklahoma to Oregon went all I can say is bad luck after bad luck. I was fortunate enough to be able to fly home to California Saturday the 20th in the evening but I was really hoping that the moving truck (who was going to load all our stuff and drive it to Oregon without us having to worry about it) would have been there by then. Unfortunately it wasn’t but it was only 4:00 and we decided that I just needed to go. My plane left a few hours late and as of 7:00 the moving truck still wasn’t there. After a midst of panic and trying to get a hold of the office of the company, all to no avail I decided to board the plane. On Sunday, Carter and his Dad, mom, and brother who were all down for graduation went to church and then back to the apartment to wait once more for the moving truck. The truck NEVER showed up and we couldn’t get a hold of them and they sure as heck never called us. So at about 3:00 Sunday afternoon they made the executive decision to rent and load a U-Haul but they wouldn’t leave until they called the moving company office at 7:00am on Monday. So at this point they are a full day behind schedule of travel, and now Carter’s Dad has to stay behind to help drive a vehicle (this was the plan for Carter’s brother the whole time). So, Carter’s mom goes to the airport to fly home to Seattle but when she gets to Denver airport around 10:00pm she finds out that the Seattle airport is closed because of snow until the day after Christmas but she can fly back to OKC the next day, standby, but her flight won’t get in until 1:00pm. The problem with this is that the boys were going to leave at 7:00am. So after another delay they finally leave OKC on Monday afternoon when I had originally been expecting them to pull into my driveway. Now, not only is it a fight against weather (which is bad everywhere they need to be driving) but they are trying to make it to my house by Christmas. Because of the lovely weather in flagstaff they had to drive 5 hours out of the way to avoid bad storms and icy dangerous weather…but they eventually made it to my house on Christmas Eve at about 9:00pm, 3 days later. So after a lot of worrying, tons of stress, and all that jazz they made it and all was well after all.
