Ice Storm 2007

So church was cancelled yesterday morning because of the bad weather and the streets were very slick. Today finals were cancelled and rescheduled because the power was out from 3am to 6pm. I still had to go to work this morning but it took an hour and a half to get the blanket of ice off my car just so I could get going. These are pictures of today and the nasty yet beautiful ice that is causing so much trouble.

We're Back

So after our wonderful little break from school we are back and getting ready for last minute tests, papers, projects and eventually finals. Our trip to Lousianna went great and we got back today at about 3 after hitting no traffic at all which was absolutely amazing. Last night they took us out to the restaurant called "Tunks" which is a Cajun grill and it sits on this lake and I'm sure the view would have been really pretty if it wasn't dark and I could see. Inside there are animals on the walls and definitely has a very cajun, outdoorsy feel to it. Carter was sooo excited about this choice because they serve alligator and he ordered fried alligator. I actually tried some and it taste like a fancy chicken to me so it wasn't that bad at all and now I can say that I've tried alligator!! I got the senior citizen meal (i know, they actually let me get it, the portions were more my size) and it was salad bar, prime rib, baked potato and this AMAZING roll called a pistolette which is basically a fried roll.

Also, today we got to pick up our bed frame from the couple who we bought it from, so now our bedroom looks like it belongs to actual adults instead of our bed just sitting on the floor! It also looks good and finishes off the look of our room so I'm happy about that!

Gotta Love the Dollar Tree

So today I decided to get out and go shopping for some Christmas decoration. Because we don't have tons of extra money for the "unneccesary" I decided to go to the Dollar Tree first and see what they have. I must say that this store has defenitely improved over the years and they even had some cute decorations that won't last forever, but are cute enough for me to decorate our apartment for our first married christmas. I only spent about 10 bucks and got enough things to make our apartment feel decorated when we get back! I also picked up some word search books for our long drive and some book lights so I can see during our night trip tomorrow!

Once everything is all decorated I'll post some pics on here for all to see.

Also, I went to petco and got our rat a run-about ball so she can roam free in her ball around our apartment and get that extra exercise. I'm excited to see how she likes it!!

Almost there...

Only two more days of school and then it's Thanksgiving break!!! And the two days will go bye fast because some of my classes have been cancelled. Our Thanksgiving game plan is we will leave for Alexandria, LO at 10:00 wednesday night and should arrive there at 9 Thursday morning. We'll stay and hang out until sunday morning and then we'll make the drive back to Oklahoma.

After break is over we only have 2 more weeks of classes plus one week of finals and then I fly home to CA for a week and then it's CHRISTMAS!!!

Happy Halloween

Today we got all of our kids at my daycare dressed up in their costumes just so we could take their picture since they're all so stinking cute! So I thought I would post them so you can see the 9 little kids that consume 20 + hours of my time every week.

Austin is precious and loves to cuddle, he just learned to walk and he is so chunky he always loses his balance and falls. It's pretty amusing to watch.

Victoria, we don't know if she understands english because we only hear her mom speak to her in spanish.
Jackson, he's developmentally delayed and his mom doesn't seem to realize it. It's frustrating that she is in denial because he's not getting the help he needs.

Grant is our newest addition and he did not like his monkey suit at all.
Zachary is quite possible one of my favorites. Although he gets cranky when he's tired he's the one that is guaranteed to make me laugh.

Not much is happening

I wish I posted more but the sad truth is my life isn't all the interesting. Tommorow is Halloween and nothing is really going on for me. We're going to have a bonfire at church and eat smores after having a singing and praise night. My big opportunity with dressing up (although I probably won't) will be this friday where our church is having a fall festival where the little kids will dress up and we'll run booths for games and candy and other fun stuff. That should be a lot of fun and really is the highlight of my week. I need to post some pictures soon but I haven't taken any recently so I'll do that soon, hopefully this friday.

It's been a long time

So it's been a long time since I've posted...and although a lot has probably happened between now and then i can't remember much of it. This past Saturday night I played the part of the good wife and went with Carter to a Buffalo Wings place for 4 hours to watch the pay-per-view UFC Fights. That was oh so fun (note the sarcasm) but he seemed to enjoy it. Then I woke up that night at about 3 am and was visiting the bathroom for the rest of the day. I of course had the stomach flu and was miserable but carter took great care of me and even went to walgreens at 6 that morning for pepto and saltines. I took Monday off from school and work to recuperate and now I am feeling sooooooo much better!

I registered yesterday for my last semester of classes so that was exciting and I'm pretty confident that I'll have a good semester for my last one.

Also, I talked to my sister yesterday and it sounds like she is doing well and enjoying her time in Vienna! I'm jealous of all her adventures but love seeing all her pictures.

Oh yeah, one last thing, I'll be home for a week starting December 13th!!! Yay!!!

Finally.......

I have been promising people for a while now that I would post pictures of our apartment although there are now some changes since the pictures have been taken. Also, I have pictures of our new little friend Splinter. Enjoy....

Weekend

Yesterday we went "mullett hunting" at the Oklahoma State fair but I didn't see many Mulletts so I was dissapointed. This State fair is where the White Trash come out to play so it's rather interesting the things you can see there. We had lots of fun seeing the different shows like the log cutters, pig races, and trick horse riding. We also hunted down the humongous clydesdales which made me feel so small in comparison. I also tried deep fried snickers for the first time which I was looking forward to. They were amazing and even Carter who thought they looked disgusting tried one and agreed they were good. (so if you get the chance, try one) The only downside of the fair was that I got really really sunburnt and it hurts.

School is coming soon

Only a little over a week left until the semester starts. I can't wait for it to get here so that I can finally get this senior year over with and graduate already! My babysitting job ends next week and since I don't have a job lined up for the school year I decided to try and get one today. I called a whole lot of daycares who are currently hiring but not one of them fit with my hours of availability. After getting incredibly discouraged and scared that I wouldn't have a job that would both pay and fit my practicum I called the last place on my list. They told me on the phone that it sounded like it might work out and to come in and fill out an application. Well after filling out the app I was interviewed on the spot and then went to spend a few minutes in the early toddlers room. They said they would call me and I thought it sounded pretty promising for me. After going to dinner with some friends I came home to a message on the phone and I got the job!!!! I'm really excited for this and am happy it fits with my schedule. The great thing is that I will be done with both work and school by 5 every night so I will get to have a life!!!

Carter will continue working at UPS during the school year and still enjoys it although the temperature is currently reaching up to 120 degrees inside the trucks. It has been a hott summer and he is feeling the brunt of it.

Sorry Sorry Sorry

I'm absolutely awful about posting on this thing!! I will remember to post but I won't have time at that second and then I'll forget to do it later.
The past week or so has been pretty busy. Last Thursday we took off to Nashville for the weekend for our good friends Tamera and Cullens wedding!! It was fun and Carter was the best man. Unfortunately we didn't get to sight see becuase our time there was short and packed with things to do. We came home on Sunday afternoon since we both had to work on Monday. i worked a little bit more this week then usual which was okay but I'm really getting tired of babysitting for them. I'm glad though that friends are finally here and that I got to spend some time with them in Nashville.

Birthday

Thanks to everyone for the warm birthday wishes!! It was great getting to talk to everybody and not truly be alone on my birthday. I'm gonna put pictures up on this blog of my birthday at the Melting Pot, the beautiful flowers my mom sent me, and some zoo pics!!

I'm Better and Life is Continuing

So my sickness only lasted a few days and I was back at work on Thursday thank goodness. This weekend was fun for us although we didn't do much Saturday I made us some crock pot ribs for dinner and Carter watched the UFC fight night which he was very excited for. On Sunday we had a very eventful day. After Church they had a lunch then we took naps went to night church. Then we were invited over to the house of a young married couple still in college along with another couple for swimming and a BBQ. After dinner we went Men vs. Women in battle of the sexes where us girls unfortunately lost although we say the game was rigged!!

Well not too much is new in our life...I've been sick the last couple of days but it all really came to a head today. I'm pretty positive that I have the flu which is upsetting because I rarely get sick let alone with something this bad. I have slept most of today in between eating crackers and drinking powerades because I'm so tired. Hopefully I'll get better soon because I already had to cancel babysitting today and am supposed to be back on Thursday. If I can't be back it's gonna hurt us a little financially so please pray for a quick recovery for me!!

New Way to Keep up with us

Hello Friends and Family!!!

I have set up this blog to post things that are going on in our life and I'm going to try and keep it fairly updated (at least once a week).

So far married life is great and we are still adjusting to the differences in how we do things and working on making countless compromises.

Carter is working at UPS still and will be continuing that through the school year. I have a new babysitting job for the summer that has good hours and the pay is great! The best part about it is that I still have time to visit and see Carter and I get my weekends off!!

I guess that's all I have for now but be sure to check back later!!
