Another Good Weekend Two Saturdays ago

Look how young the kids are when they start!
All the guys in Carter's part

Carter getting the grab on this guy

On Saturday Carter had a Judo tournament in Portland, Oregon. For those of you who don't know, Judo is a form of martial art that Carter has taken up since our arrival in Oregon. This was his second tournament and at his first he received 3rd place. Because Portland is 4 hourst away and he had to be there by 8:30 saturday morning we went up Friday night and stayed at a cheap-o hotel so that way we wouldn't have such a long day on Saturday which ended up being a good choice.
The tournament was long on Saturday we go there at 8:00 for weigh in and Carter didn't even start his part until around 2. They had kids going before it was Carter's section and that was really interesting to watch little kids tossing each other around. Carter told me that I should take up Judo but after seeing what all entails the answer is a definite NO! I am not a fan of pain in any shape, way, or form. Carter won his first match and then the other two didn't go so well and since it was double elimination we got to leave a little earlier then we had thought. However that worked out for the best since we got to go to the mall in Portland which is HUGE and we had a good time browsing around and dreaming about things we can't afford. The highlight of the night was probably eating dinner at Chili's, especially since carter has recently been drooling over the tv commercials. Besides, who can eat at a food court when there is also a Chili's in the mall, obviously not us. The road trip home was uneventful and we arrived back at our house at 11:30 tired and not ready to get up so early for church in the morning.

Weekend Wonderful

Carter's brother Clayton came up this weekend which was perfect timing since it was a warm perfectly sunny weekend which has been a rare sight so far. The boys went to Eugene to meet up with their dad at a knife show so I decided that I would head to the beach for my 2nd time since being here for a little relaxation. Although it was windy it was nice bundling up in my sweater and laying on my towel while reading my book and just being lazy. Then I decided to venture for a little walk on the water and boy is it cold!! On sunday Carter preached at church and did a FANTASTIC job (I'm so proud of him!) and then we took Clay to lunch at the Kozy Kitchen (our equivelant of Denny's) and then we decided that instead of sitting on the couch staring at the tv until Clay left we would go to the beach. It was a perfect day there! No wind at all and it was warm and despite Carter's complaining I think he had a good time! They spent a while making a castle and then trying to keep the water from demolishing it which is much easier said then done. In all it was a good time and the fresh air and sunshine did us good I'm sure!

I know I know, Long time no Post

I really wanted to get better at posting but this having no internet thing really makes it hard to post what is going on in our lives at the moment. I used to be addicted to the internet but now I can go days without getting online and not really think twice about it. Boy how the times have changed. My trip to Yuba city went well and it was great getting to hang out with my family even though I was sick while I was there and apparently infected the rest of them. Whoops. I enjoyed my cherry vanilla coke from Sonic and our Lunch at Red Robin. The trip back here was long and uneventful which is a good thing and oh yeah I forgot, it was fun watching my brother during his golf tournament. He is pretty good at the game which I don't have ANY talent for.

Carter and I have both been doing well. The sun was shining for a few days so that was extremely nice and lovely. Tomorrow we are taking the kids to go see Monsters Vs. Aliens which we think will be a great movie so that probably is the most exciting thing going on in our lifes right now. Oh yeah, Carter has a Judo tournament in Grants Pass on Saturday (his first one) so he is pretty excited about that and hopefully he brings back an award!!
