Beach Fest Desert Auction 2010

Sunday the 18th was the North Bend Church of Christ's annual Potato Bar and Dessert Auction in order to raise funds for the youth rally "Beach Fest" that we put on every year. This year we succesfully raise $1300 which is fantastic!

Look at all those yummy desserts!

One of the men in the church made this rocking horse out of myrtlewood to auction off!!

My contribution was two different types of cupcakes because I was wanting to auction them off in smaller amounts this year to make them more affordable to those who want to participate with their smaller budget.

The first set of cupcakes were called Black Hole Cupcakes and were made from scratch dark chocolate with rasberry preserve filling. The frosting was made from scratch chocolate rasberry.

The second cupcake batch was also made from scratch chocolate with a peanut butter ball center. The frosting was a Peanut Butter/Cool Whip/Cream cheese mix.

Busy Busy Week

This past week was incredibly busy for both Me and Carter.

I was in charge of the Vacation Bible School (VBS) at our church and although it was successful it was exhausting!!! All I did all week long was was work, then go straight to do VBS stuff, but then I got home and worked on more stuff for the next days VBS. We had about 45 kids ages 3-11 enrolled total, and our highest night had 37 kids which may not seem like many but it is a ton and just the perfect amount for our church with a smaller VBS budget. Our theme was "Roundin up questions, and drivin' home answers" with a western/cowboy theme. We answered questions each day like "who am I" "does God care about me" and "what is God's plan for me?"  Check out the video I made to show the parents on the last day which was awards/bbq night.

Carter was busy in Zorrillo, Mexico with 8 teenagers joining the Vancouver Church of Christ and building 5 homes for families there. He tells me that it was a fantastic time and that both he and the teens were touched by what they saw and had a great time bonding. Carter got to try fish tacos which he says are great and he also got Apple Gatorade, and Flaming hot tostitos which he wishes we had here in the USA! Carter also had a good time going to the mexican market on one of the days and got me pretty bracelets and got himself a mexican sweater and some cool masks.

Oh To Be 9 Again...

Last Friday I volunteered to help out at a birthday party for my friend Vicki's daughter. For Maddison's 9th birthday party she had a weenie roast at the beach and then her and 8 of her friends went and saw Toy Story 3.  It was a blast helping out with this and I just loved watching how care free these girls were. One of my favorite moments was driving from one place to another with a car full of girls singing loudly to music (Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber) with all the windows down and sun roof open. This was a great moment for me because I remember my mom doing the same with us and our friends when we were young!

Vicki made these adorable cupcakes "oooooo the claw"

The birthday girl loved the sun roof!

We took up a whole row at the theatre. I also volunteered for bathroom duty since I'd already seen the movie and I think I made a total of 5 trips. My favorite one was when we got to the bathroom and I looked down and realized the girl was barefoot......ewwwwww grosss!!!!!
