W is for Washington's Seattle Mariners

This past Monday Carter's parents bought us tickets for a Seattle Mariners. It was them, us, and his brother and his fiance. We had lots of fun but thank goodness the top was closed or else the rain would have dumped on us all night. It was great because the Mariners actually won although we didn't know that because we left early to beat traffic.

We got there early for batting practice and we were all hollering for them to throw us a ball...and who did they throw it to?? Paula, Carter's mom...but bless her heart she dropped it when they threw it to her, but luckily the man in front gave it to her after it rolled to him.

V is for VBS

Here is Carter leading songs

"Dastardly Neal" in the skit...he was mean then turned nice.
Kids singing along
Carter riding "tornado" the bicyle horse

The week before we left Olympia had their VBS. It was Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. The theme was "Righteouss round-up" So that the kids could learn how to live a righteouss life by example of people in the bible and apply it to their every day life. Unfortunately not tons of kids came but the high school group always had a good turn out which suprised us!! Everyone had a good time though which is all that really matters.

U is for UPS

Tonight Carter got a call from his old boss at UPS basically trying to rehire him...that's how stinkin great Carter is at his job...he quit and they're begging him to come back! Unfortunatley they weren't going to pay him more. Anyways, we thought that was funny since he quit 3 months ago.

T is for To Do List

To do lists are my thing. They help keep me organized and keep my mind from getting jumbled. This is my way of keeping my stress levels down since I'm a worrier.

Here is my To-Do's before leaving Thursday morning.

-Make Stationary for the Carrs
-Return Library Books
-Buy books for the car trip
-Deposit Checks
-Finish Laundry
-Go Shopping for Girls Night
-Make food for girls night
-Clean up our Apartment
-Pack up all our stuff

S is for Subjective

As much as we love the Olympics, the judging for Gymnastics has been driving us nuts. Especially me!! Why does one person who does better then the other get a lower score?? I know it's all a matter of perspective, but really some consistency from the judges would be greatly appreciated. I wish they could find another way then subjective judging to figure out who does better. Any ideas?? I was so glad though that Shawn Johnson got her Gold on the balance beam because she has been a delight to watch with her oozing confidence and beautiful smile!!

I suppose this will be my last Olympics post because Carter mocked my for posting about the olympics...but really what else is there to post about? This is one of the most exciting parts of our day, coming home and staying up till super duper late just to see who will win (while trying to stay away from websites that will spoil it for us).

R is for Rainier

Sunday afternoon we took the youth up to Mount Rainier where we hiked up a little bit and had our afternoon worship service. Then we had about 1 1/2 hours to hike around as we pleased, but I'm so out of shape I just went to Paradise inn and looked around in the gift shop with some of the kids who didn't want to hike either. Carter though took off with some of the kids and were having such a good time that they showed up 30 minutes later then they were supposed to...okay maybe they weren't having a good time, apparently some kids went along who shouldn't have because they were struggling to keep up and were slowing everybody down. I'm sorry I don't have any real pictures but the one time I forgot my camera was the time I wished I had it the most. The views were gourgeous and it smelt wonderful up there in the wild!!

Q is for Quaff

Quaff also means to drink deeply (I had to look up a good word for Q obviously). Drinking deeply and a lot of fluids is something we have had to be doing a lot lately. The weather here in Washington has been getting in the 90's which doesn't seem bad, but it is very high for the area. Also, the problem with this is that a lot of homes don't have air which makes things even worse, because at least in Oklahoma we could seek shelter in our air conditioned apartment. The house we are staying in has air everywhere except for in our apartment(on the second floor), so it has been getting incomfortably hot in there which is especially bad at night, and when we don't feel like being social.

P is for Port Townsend

This past Saturday we took the youth group to Port Townsend which is a touristy town about 2 hours away. There is a fort here that we spent most of our time at that was once the bunkers and lookouts over the bay and they are built underground. They are now open for the public to run around in although they are pitch black, small, gross, and creepy. I personally chose to watch everybody who was playing because I'm not a fan of dark, small spaces. Carter however was having a great time and was running around in them so quick that I could hardly keep track of him. A good time was had by all.

The above "houses" were featured in the movie "officer and a gentleman"

O is for Olympics

Whenever the tv is on now we are watching the olympics. Our favorites are swimming, gymnastics and Carter loves the wrestling. The only problem is that they only show wrestling in the wee hours of the morning (around 5ish) so carter has been staying up or setting his alarm to catch it. GO TEAM USA!!!

N is for New Semester

The new fall semester is coming up and we will be heading back to school for Carter to finish up his last semester in the fall. We will be leaving Washington on the 28th and hopefully getting back to OC late on the 29th. We are excited that we will be in the same apartment because it was in the perfect spot...hmmmm maybe we should have cleaned better when we left it.

M is for Mansion

Well, maybe it's not a mansion, but it is a very large home. This is where we have been staying all summer long rent free. There is a couple at the church here who are very well off and open up their home to the summer interns to stay in. We actually are staying in a mother-in-law apartment with our own living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette but we have access to the whole house. This place is gourgeous and has so much fun stuff for us to play with and we have been so lucky to stay here!!!

The Game Room
Movie Theatre Room, (they even have the right seats)
That's our balcony
The house
They love their cats so much that they bought this RV for them and then built a cat run on top.
Their Kitchen with 2 fridges, 2 sinks and 2 dishwashers. The original owner built it to be Kosher.
The formal sitting room
The entry way (we've never once used this)
The computer room and the two rooms in the back are both sewing rooms.
The TV room is where we spend most of our time.

L is for Long Trip

Well maybe not as long as our trip to Washington, but on Monday my mother-in-law and I drove to North Bend to meet my mom and brother. We drove 6 hours and mom and logan drove 8. The purpose of this short 2 day adventure was to locate apartments in the area that looked good enough for us to live in as well as being located in a good neighborhood. Although we didn't have very many options I have 3 choices that we are praying will have an opening in them because they would be the best fit and location for us! On Tuesday after saying goodbye, we got back in our cars and drove back to our homes. It was a short but very productive trip and I'm glad that I got to see some of my family before christmas!!

This Apartment Complex is our first choice!
